We are seeking a team of energetic individuals who can adapt to the fast-paced dynamic setting of the second round of the National Open Art Competition 2018. Appointed to assist the National Open Art staff, this intuitive team plays a vital role in the success of the event, delivering an organised, methodical and efficient operation for the judges to carry out their task of selecting the finalists for the 22nd National Open Art Exhibition.

Following the digital round in which thousands of entries will be considered by the panel on Monday 30 July, approximately 500 works will be shortlisted by the judges for their closer inspection and final selection and awards. One of the biggest logistical and most exciting events of the NOA year, you will be supporting the team to undertake a variety of proactive roles from meeting the judges and entrants to organising and handling the works of art.

What is the time commitment?

For these roles, we ask a minimum of one four hour shift. There is ample parking at the college and good public transport links nearby. Although public transport isn't the easiest mode of transport to the venue, other team members will be on hand to help with lifts to and from the nearest stops. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and light refreshments will be provided in addition to an onsite coffee shop and a canteen who take lunchtime food orders.

What will you be doing?

  • You’ll be on hand to provide a warm, friendly welcome to entrants of the 22nd National Open Art Competition and help with the deliveries from the couriers.
  • Prepare newly delivered, individual artworks for judging by unwrapping and organising the packaging and artworks into their subsequent categories.
  • Help with general tidying and organisation of the common areas to ensure a professional and safe working environment at all times.
  • Deliver all works methodically to the judges for their consideration and organise the works into their subsequent new categories following the judges’ decisions.
  • Undertake the re-wrapping of all works to a very high standard.

What will this opportunity offer you?

  • The chance to meet people from all walks of life and make new friends.
  • Gain experience and insight of working in a unique independent charitable organisation in the visual arts industry and to learn new skills.
  • Opportunity to make a valued contribution to National Open Art’s vision and values.
  • We are happy to provide references for your participation.
