NOA 14 Catalogue - page 5

Message from the
I begin by thanking our headline sponsor Towry and Chief
Executive, Rob Devey, for their valuable participation.
Exhibiting NOA 14 in the illustrious Somerset House is a major
new development for which we are most grateful to the Director
Jonathan Reekie and his team. Gavin Turk, our artist vice
president, has created a neon sculpture for the entrance of the
Embankment Gallery where we show from Sep 18th to Oct 25th
for five weeks. We will have artists in residence as well as daily
guided tours and talks. Antony Gormley will open our special
Artists’ Evening and we aim to make this the best exhibition we
have staged in our nearly two decade history.
Ronnie Wood has become a patron of NOA and we are delighted
to welcome a celebrity who is as passionate about his art as he is
his music. Kate Thorpe has continued to sharpen our image as
our designer and has been welcomed as a new trustee. One of
her ideas has launched The NOA Collection comprising works of
art from our competing artists and esteemed judges, many of
them RAs, which will be acquired and form a collection to tour the
UK taking the NOA name with it. Our comprehensive NOA Art
Library grows and works of art or artbooks gifted or willed to The
Collection and the Library are gratefully received and add to the
gravitas of NOA as an established not for profit arts charity. NOA
thrives thanks to the generous support from a wide range of
individuals, volunteers and companies who are passionate about
art. Without this input we would not be able to stage annual selling
exhibitions in prestigious venues as well as providing the year
round help and advice that we offer, nurturing artists careers
across the entire UK.
Our team, Amanda Kings, Anne Menzies, Kate Thorpe, Jane Allan
and Cloe Barrett work tirelessly, often into the wee small hours as
the competition entries draw to a close, to make all this happen.
Penny Harris with her PR and Press team at Parker Harris and our
web team at Mzuri Design provide the invaluable back up. My
thanks also to our judging panel; to Pallant House Gallery; The
Chichester Festival Theatre and the team at the Works on Paper
Fair who together help us reach up to 30,000 visitors at the
exhibitions and many more online. BBC 1 South have produced a
programme about NOA which will be televised this autumn. We
welcome all interested parties to join the NOA family to continue
helping to take this exciting venture forwards.
