Amanda Kings | Competition & Exhibitions Director

This is my 8th year of being involved with NOA. I’m always at the end of the phone to help with general queries, I arrange all aspects of the competition, organise the judging venues, and get works to and from these venues and liaise with the Judges.

I also arrange the Exhibition venues and put on the exhibitions, helping with the curating, and the Private Views.

I have the dubious task of being the Trust’s accountant so it is up to me to prepare our budgets and to balance the books at the end of each year.

I am always happy to help you with any problems or to put you in touch with Anne if I am unable to help ~ so please never worry about contacting me either by email or by phone.

My relationship with National Open Art has been long and fruitful, starting when I designed a poster for one of their first exhibitions 19 years ago. In the proceeding years, I worked with clients in West Sussex, London and Europe creating brands and designing logos for businesses in a wide range of sectors. I now work extensively for NOA as creative director – creating and progressing the visual brand, leading design, and jointly overseeing marketing and copywriting. It’s my job to ensure that the vision and message of the charity are conveyed to artists, consumers and sponsors.

I’m so lucky to have a diverse job with such a lovely team; our work constantly evolves throughout the year and never stops. From the first entries to the judging process, event planning the exhibition and the big nights when we open to the public, each part is very rewarding. A very old friend of mine said to me “You have your perfect job don’t you!”… he was right.

Being a Trustee of this wonderful arts charity is an honour.

I work for NOA three days a week on the organisation's marketing, communications, and operations as well as working closely with Hester in PR and advertising. It is a pleasure and a wonderful charity... I am surrounded by beautiful art, by our lovely artists and a very small dedicated and passionate team of creative individuals.

My favourite time of the year has to be the 2nd round of judging when the 500 or so shortlisted artworks are delivered - it's just like Christmas! It is so inspiring and exciting to unwrap all the art which we have grown to know and love. Some of the work simply takes your breath away and surprises you when you see it for the first time. It is a real privilege. I feel very lucky to be part of such a positive and most worthy cause.

I'm always happy to help out with your pictures, if you are having difficulties getting them to the right size or cropping them; just email them to me with what you want done to them and I'll try to get them back to you within 24 hours. BUT, please don't leave it until the last minute!
